The Story
Inspired by the 2025 Met Gala and The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s exhibition Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, The Black Dandy celebrates Black excellence, elegance, and the enduring influence of Black style on fashion and culture.
From the Harlem Renaissance to contemporary icons like André Leon Talley and Iké Udé, Black dandyism has transformed fashion into a powerful expression of identity, resistance, and self-determination. Women such as Grace Jones and Janelle Monáe have also challenged conventions through bold tailoring and unapologetic individuality.
Crafted with SirDavis American Whisky, Amaro Nonino, and black walnut bitters, The Black Dandy embodies this legacy—bold, sophisticated, and layered with character. A velvet rebellion in a glass.
Ingredients
2 oz SirDavis American Whisky
½ oz Amaro Nonino
¼ oz demerara syrup
2 dashes black walnut bitters
1 dash orange bitters
Preparation
Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice. Stir for 20–30 seconds until thoroughly chilled. Strain over a large clear ice cube in a rocks glass. Express an orange twist over the cocktail and garnish.
Glassware: Heavy-bottomed rocks glass
Garnish: Burnt orange twist and a gold-dusted Luxardo cherry on a matte black cocktail pick. Use edible, food-grade gold dust.
